Alcohol use: prevalence and associated factors in a sample of Tunisian students

Introduction The use of alcohol, in particular its harmful and alcohol dependence, represent a public health problem interest to all age groups. Indeed, is responsible for heavy burden disease considerable socio-economic burden. Objectives To determine the prevalence main factors associated with it sample Tunisian students. Methods This an analytical cross-sectional study carried out during 2020/2021 academic year We used anonymous self-administered questionnaire distributed online via social networks. Our included section focusing on socio-demographic characteristics AUDIT test (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) detect addiction. Results enrolled 772 students .The average population was 23.29 ±3.25.Two hundred ninety-nine (38.7%) consumed alcohol. mean at first 18.44 (3.09). Fifty-two users (17.4%) presented risk dependence. consumption contexts were mostly “between friends” (57.4%) “party time “(23.5%).The effects sought effect disinhibition (64.5%) integration (41.1%) predominant responses. determining (p<10 -3 ), male gender presence grade repetition wealthy socioeconomic level participation community life ).
